BCG Volunteer and Gardener Application

Thank you for your interest in the Berwick Community Garden. We are excited that you are interested in gardening with us.

 

Gardening at the Berwick Community Garden is a commitment. Our goal is to work together to make this a successful and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Before completing the application, please review the Garden-Volunteer Guidelines (pdf) and view the BCG presentation we gave at the Berwick Public Library.

Answer these three questions:

Berwick Community Garden depends on volunteer commitment and participation for its sustainability and success. Listed below are areas where you can be involved. Please check areas where you are interested in helping.

Safety and Liability Release

I AGREE:

  1. That I am at least 18 years of age or, if younger, under the supervision of a responsible and accompanying adult;

  2. That I have no reason, medical or otherwise that would prevent me from performing volunteer work in the gardens;

  3. That I have acquainted myself with what is required to perform my tasks and am able to meet those requirements;

  4. That I will attend an orientation meeting before I begin my gardening or volunteering;

  5. That I am solely responsible for my own safety and the safety of others who may be affected by my actions while in BCG;

  6. In recognition of the risks and hazards, inherent and otherwise, of injury or death, and damage to property by engaging in same, which risks I fully acknowledge and freely and solely assume, I, for myself, my heirs, successors, assigns, and legal representatives, hereby forever release, waive, discharge, covenant not to sue, and agree to hold harmless both BCG and the Town of Berwick, their officers, agents, volunteers and employees, from any claims, demands, suits, or actions whatsoever in law or equity for liability, damages or costs of any kind, including but not limited to claims for negligence, property damage, injury to person and/or death, or otherwise, without limitation, arising out of or resulting from, in whole or in part, my participation in volunteering at BCG. This release and waiver of claims shall not constitute or be construed as a waiver of any defense, immunity or limitation of liability which may be available to both BCG and the Town under the Maine Tort Claims Act pursuant to the provisions of 14 M.R.S.A. § 8101 et seq. or any other privileges or immunities as may be provided by law.

  7. That I will perform volunteer service in compliance with the standards and specifications established, or approved, by the Town of Berwick, and will honor the direction of the Town of Berwick or its representatives to suspend or terminate service;

  8. That I agree to the foregoing in consideration for being permitted to perform volunteer service for and on behalf of BCG.

Media Release

I hereby give consent to BCG or their agents to photograph, videotape, or otherwise digitally record and use images and/or sound recordings of myself or my child or children (if applicable) to use in any public media, including radio, television, internet
